Week one of summer camps is in the books! This week, we had Introduction to Archery and Search for Bigfoot. Both camps were full of energy and excitement and some really awesome campers!
In Introduction to Archery, we added a new component this summer, THEME DAYS! They included Super Hero Day, Safari Day, and Crazy Clothes Day. Each theme day correlated with a special archery game, like a sniper (long-distance) challenge, a 3D Shoot, and our signature mystery shoot with crazy colored flash cards. Along with all of these new activities, we included all of the basic archery rules and skills that are the backbone of archery. In this camp we had 20 students who were full of energy and loved having fun, and loved shooting archery! Campers won lots of candy and money, plus an On Target hat and shirt! This week in camp we talked about how to get to Heaven, how to ask God into our hearts and what to do once we have accepted him into our hearts. This camp was led by Katrina, Stephen and Kendall with Jacob, Lauren and Taryn volunteering.
In Search for Bigfoot, campers learned all of the skills they needed to be stealthy, how to track and hunt Bigfoot and then got to put their skills to the test on the last day with a Bigfoot hunt. One of our staff members took some shots for the team, suited up as Bigfoot, and let the Bigfoot hunters shoot paintballs at him! They also got the chance to learn about archery (and shoot for Bigfoot Nuggets!) and so many different varies of hide and seek, sardines, prison break and capture the flag. They also learned a new game called Bigfoot tag. In this game, each player puts a panty hose on their head and the foot of the panty hose is full of flour, then they spin around and sway their heads to tag the other players! This is our favorite game. Despite the rain and storms this week, our 8 Bigfoot hunters learned and played with smiles on their faces! The lesson of the week was about whether or not Bigfoot is real, whether or not God is real, evidence for both, and if so, so what? We believe that God is real and that that we should share the good news with our friends. This camp was lead by Delaney, Stephen and Alex with Mikayla and Madison volunteering.
This first week of camps set a great tone for the rest of our summer and we are excited to welcome in week two and meet all of our new campers and welcome back campers that have been with us before. Next week we have Basic Marksmanship, Fish On, and Worse Case Scenario. There are spots still available in these camps so register while you still can and invite your friends! We hope to see you soon and appreciate your support in everything that we do.
